Daily Supplements

Updated: Feb 21, 2019

Sometimes I'm asked what supplements I take regularly, and the truth is I'm slow to make (or break) habits, so it's taken me years to develop a somewhat consistent routine. I used to move the vitamins around every few days, to different spots on the counter, so I would notice them every morning and take them around breakfast.

Now I have a spot near the coffee maker where I store the supplements. It's become a habit to take them when I make a cup of coffee or tea for me or someone else, which happens most mornings.

Right now I'm most consistent about taking brain-boosting supplements and CoQ10. I feel smarter and happier taking MRM Kids Attention, 2 per day. It's been particularly helpful for the spaciness that happened after my youngest was born. I was taking my mutivitamin, drinking water, getting enough sleep, eating protein,... in short, doing all the things I knew I should be doing, and I still had trouble remembering where I'd parked my car, and nearly left my purse at the grocery store. My life was a little overscheduled, but rather than cut out activities that were important to me, I became more consistent with fish oil and this ADD formula, and that solved the problem.

As allergy season came in with Santa Ana winds, I tried a couple of natural formulas to address my itchy eyes. One was Plantiva AllerX, and another was Gaia Herbs Turmeric Supreme. After a couple of weeks on the Turmeric, not only did I have no allergy symptoms; I found myself having minor epiphanies throughout the day, feeling the clarity normally reserved for vacations. My schedule hadn't lightened at all, and I felt very calm and aware. It was the only new item in my routine at the time, so I've kept taking it.

CoQ10 is something I take on and off, and currently I'm taking regularly. It seems to give me steadier energy through the day, which is what it's supposed to do.

Gotu Kola is an adaptogenic herb that I've been taking for a month as an experiment. The effects I'm interested in are supposed to take six months or more to show, so I'll update on that later.

When I think of it, I try to add minerals to my water. Half the time I overdo it and the water tastes vile, so I dilute it and keep going . ; )

Those are the consistent ones at this point. I'll update in a couple of months.

Do you want to be a Hot Mom?

We had a great Moms Health Class on Thursday about practical weight loss and fitness. As I prepped my slides, a friend joked I should call it “The Hot Homeschool Mom” or “A Guide to Mom Hotness”. But
